    Sic Sat (in Dutch)
    The foundation International Centre for the Study of Argumentation and Speech Communication (Sic Sat) supports and stimulates education and research in the field of argumentation and speech communication. The foundation publishes scientific works, organizes conferences, lends financial support to research projects and offers post academic courses in the field of argumentation and speech communication. Members of the board are Prof. dr. Frans H. van Eemeren (chair) and Dr. A. Francisca Snoeck Henkemans (secretary/treasurer), both working in the department of Speech communication, Argumentation theory and Rhetoric of the University of Amsterdam.

  • International Learned Institute for Argumentation Studies (ILIAS)
    The Amsterdam Argumentation Chronicle is a semi-annual newsletter published by the department of Speech Communication, Argumentation Theory and Rhetoric of the University of Amsterdam. ILIAS brings together researchers from various universities who opt for a pragma-dialectical approach to studying argumentation. ILIAS coordinates research projects undertaken by its members, provides information that is expected to be useful to its members, teaches courses for international PhD students, organizes colloquiums on topics pertinent to the pragma-dialectical study of argumentation, encourages relevant publications, and sponsors exchanges, networks, and other forms of international collaboration with related research groups.

  • Argumentation in context (Benjamins publishers)

    Argumentation in context is a new bookseries that highlights the variety of argumentative practices that have become established in modern society by focusing on the study of context-dependent characteristics of argumentative discourse that vary according to the demands of the more or less institutionalized communicative activity type in which the discourse takes place. Examples of such activity types are parliamentary debates and political interviews, medical consultations and health brochures, legal annotations and judicial sentences, editorials and advertorials in newspapers, and scholarly reviews and essays.

    Argumentation is an international and interdisciplinary journal that gathers academic contributions from a wide range of scholarly backgrounds and approaches to reasoning, natural inference and persuasion. Its scope includes a diversity of interests, from philosophical, theoretical and analytical to empirical and practical topics. Argumentation publishes papers, book reviews, a yearly bibliography, and announcements of conferences and seminars.




    Argumentation & Advocacy (American Forensic Association)
    Argumentation and Advocacy seeks to publish the best in studies of argumentation in all its forms and from diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives. It seeks to address a broad intellectual audience interested in argumentation studies but not necessarily conversant with a specialized vocabulary.

    Argumentation et Analyse du Discours est une revue électronique dont l'ambition est d'offrir un lieu d'échange aux chercheurs qui tentent aujourd'hui de réfléchir aux rapports qui s'établissent entre l'analyse du discours, l'argumentation et la rhétorique dans l'espace global des sciences du langage et de la communication (sous la direction de Ruth Amossy et Roselyne Koren).

    Argumentation in Context (John Benjamins publishing company)
    Argumentation in context is an international and interdisciplinary journal that publishes papers about the role of argumentation in the various kinds of argumentative practices that have come into being in social life. These practices include, for instance, political, legal, medical, financial, commercial, academic, educational, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication. In all cases, certain aspects of such practices will be analysed from the perspective of argumentation theory with a view of gaining a better understanding of certain vital characteristics of these practices.


    Cogency (CEAR)
    Cogency is an international journal devoted to research and scholarship in reasoning and argumentation. The journal seeks to be a source of reference which elucidates our understanding of these fields of study. It aims is to contribute both at a theoretical and a practical level, taking into account perspectives originating in psychology, philosophy, linguistics, formal and informal logic, rhetoric, critical thinking, amongst others disciplines and angles. Cogency publishes articles and book reviews.



    Controversia (Russian Communication Association)
    Controversia: the International Journal of discussion and democratic revival is a reviewed, interdisciplinary journal where questions concerning connection of the theory and practice of discourse and policy are discussed, and the authors of it try to find ways to interest a reader in the thoughts about the role of a dialogue and discussion in the development of public government forms in the conditions of new-born and developed democracy.

    Informal Logic
    Informal Logic is a peer reviewed journal publishing articles and reviews on topics related to reasoning and argumentation in theory and practice. It is deliberately multi-disciplinary, welcoming theoretical and empirical research from any pertinent field, including, but not restricted to, philosophy, rhetoric, communication, linguistics, psychology, artificial intelligence, education, law.

    Quarterly Journal of Speech (Routledge)
    The Quarterly Journal of Speech publishes articles and book reviews of interest to those who take a rhetorical perspective on the texts, discourses, and cultural practices by which public beliefs and identities are constituted, empowered, and enacted.





Studies in Communication Sciences (SGKM)
Studies in Communication Sciences is an international journal that publishes original articles of high quality in all areas of communication, e.g. linguistics, semiotics, rhetoric, media, mass communication, corporate and institutional communication, management of communication, information and communication technology, formal models of communication, communication in educational environment, intercultural communication, sociology and psychology of communication. As a general forum for communication scholarship, the Journal is especially interested
in research whose significance crosses disciplinary and sub-field boundaries.
