Changes in the Planning Committee of the ISSA Conferences
The ISSA Conference of 1986, 1990, 1994, and 1998 were organized by Frans H. van Eemeren, Rob Grootendorst, J. Anthony Blair and Charles A. Willard. This happy collaboration ended due to the passing away of Rob Grootendorst in 2000. Fortunately, A. Francisca Snoeck Henkemans agreed to join the remaining members of the Planning Committee in organizing the ISSA Conference of 2002. In 2006 the ISSA Conference was again organized by van Eemeren, Blair and Willard, this time joined by Bart Garssen. Because it seemed time to hand over this task to a new generation, in organizing the ISSA Conference of 2010 David Godden has succeeded J. Anthony Blair and Gordon Mitchell has succeeded Charles A. Willard, while the local organizers Frans H. van Eemeren and Bart Garssen remained in place.
As shown in this brief overview, J. Anthony Blair and Charles Willard took part in the organisation of six consecutive ISSA Conferences. In addition they were also six times co-editors of the Proceedings of the ISSA Conferences. The present members of the Planning Committee pay their respect to Blair and Willard for the great contribution they have made to the advancement of interests of all argumentation theorists jointly constituting the International Society for the Study of Argumentation. On behalf of all ISSA members they hereby express their profound gratitude to both J. Anthony Blair and Charles A Willard.
Participants in the ISSA Conference are requested to wear their conference badges during all sessions of the Conference and also at the Receptions.

All speakers (only speakers) are provided with a guest account (see conference bag) that enables them to log in with their own computers. There are no computer facilities available at the Conference Sites.
Free tickets for three Amsterdam museums
At the reception at the Amsterdam Historical Museum on Wednesday June 29 free tickets will be distributed among all people present at the reception for three Amsterdam museums: the Amsterdam Historical Museum (Kalverstraat 290), Museum Willet-Holthuysen (Herengracht 605), and Museum Geelvinck (Keizersgracht 633). The tickets will be valid until the end of August. All three museums are certainly worth a visit. The Amsterdam Historical Museum is housed in an old orphanage and has a splendid collection of memorabilia related to the history of the city. Museum Willet-Holthuysen gives an excellent impression of the way in which a rich Amsterdam family used to live. The building is authentic and has been decorated in style. The French garden behind the house has been restored to its former glory. Museum Geelvinck shows you a grand “gentlemen’s house” in its original historical style with a beautiful classical garden at the back.
Pictures of the 7th ISSA Conference
Photographer Jan the Boer will be present at the three keynote speeches and at all three receptions to take pictures of the participants in the ISSA Conference. Jan de Boer will also make some special portraits of the winners of the ISSA Awards (who are also the keynote speakers). After the Conference the organizers will make these photos available on line to all of you.
